In the chemical industry and polymer materials industry, what direction is safer?

Recently, there have been frequent safety incidents. An explosion in a university laboratory took the lives of three students. I really express my deep condolences. So I really feel very scared, so I would like to ask, I am a polymer major, which direction will be relatively safer to choose when I am further studying?

The polymer industry can be divided into synthesis and processing. Most people feel that synthesis is more dangerous than processing. However, from the perspective of safety, these two are similar in theory. In fact, it depends on what kind of enterprise they are doing. In other words, the larger and more formal enterprises are, the safer they are, and it has little to do with the profession itself.
